Day 4 - Sunday Sermon Recap
Welcome to Day 4 of our weekly devotional based on last Sunday’s Sermon:
Ephesians 2:19-22 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
Our church DNA is a powerful reality—a transformative inheritance that redefines who we are. Once, our identity was shaped by earthly markers and divided by race, nationality, and social status. But in Christ, that old blueprint is rewritten. As believers, we are no longer strangers and aliens; we are now fellow citizens and members of the household of God, united in Him as part of His family. In a world that often leaves us feeling isolated, God invited us into His family.
Ephesians 2:19-22 paints a vivid picture: built upon the solid foundation of God’s Word, with Christ as our cornerstone, we are being joined together into a holy temple. For this reason this new DNA transcends all human boundaries. It proclaims that our citizenship is not determined by earthly governments or leaders, but by our belonging to a heavenly kingdom. In this divine family, every member counts—each of us is an essential part of the structure that grows into God’s dwelling place.
This truth calls us to look beyond the temporary constructs of our world and anchor our hope in our eternal King. Our unity and identity in Christ means that our differences must fade in the light of His love. We are one people, called to support, encourage, and build up one another as part of God’s grand design for His glory.
How does embracing your identity as a member of God’s household impact the way you interact with others in your community? In what ways can you shift your focus from earthly systems to the eternal truth of your citizenship in God’s kingdom? Consider how you can better love and support your spiritual brothers and sisters.
Let us live out our new identity boldly, knowing that we are not just the body or the bride of Christ—we are also His treasured family, built together into a holy dwelling for God.
