Day 3 - Sunday Sermon Recap
Welcome to Day 3 of our weekly devotional based on last Sunday’s Sermon:
Revelation 19:6-9, 22:17 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints… The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.
As we have seen in our devotional in the past two weeks in our journey of faith, God has rewritten our very DNA. No longer are we defined by the old, fallen patterns that once marked us as children of wrath. Now, through Christ’s redeeming work, our identity has been transformed. So now, we are not only the unified body of Christ, but we are also His cherished bride.
In Revelation 19:8, we see a striking image of this transformation. The bride is clothed in fine linen, bright and pure—symbolizing the righteous acts of the saints. This new clothing is not of our own making; it is the righteousness of Christ that covers us. The Old Testament, often described God’s people by using the prophetic imagery of unfaithfulness and impurity, however now through Christ our impurity has been washed away. Instead, we now stand cleansed, adorned in the divine attire of holiness. Though our sin was scarlet red they have now been made white as snow. Despite our unfaithfulness, Christ loves us with an everlasting love. He is preparing us to be presented as a radiant bride, without stain or blemish. Hallelujah!
Revelation 22:17 echoes this invitation: “Come.” It’s a call extended by both the Spirit and the bride, inviting all who are thirsty for the water of life to partake in this new, life-giving relationship with Christ. Our new church DNA proclaims that we are not isolated individuals but a collective body and a united bride—ready for our eternal union with the Savior.
How does the imagery of being “clothed in fine linen” speak to the transformation in your own life? In what ways can you embody the purity and unity of Christ’s bride in your community?
Today, embrace this new identity—transformed, purified, and lovingly called to be the bride of our Savior and ask the Holy Spirit to help you live in a way that honors your heavenly Bridegroom, eagerly anticipating the day when we will be fully united with Him.
