Day 1 - Sunday Sermon Recap

Jan 6, 2025    Pastor Javier Vega

Welcome to day number 1 of our devotional based on last Sunday’s Sermon: John 3:25-30: Now a discussion arose between some of John's disciples and a Jew over purification. And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, he who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you bore witness—look, he is baptizing, and all are going to him.” John answered, “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven. You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’ The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. He must increase, but I must decrease.”

John the Baptist's humble declaration, "He must increase, but I must decrease," in John 3:30, serves as a powerful reminder of our purpose as followers of Christ. Like John, we are called to point others to Jesus, not to seek glory for ourselves. Today, reflect on areas in your life where you might be seeking your own increase rather than Christ's. How can you intentionally step back and allow Jesus to take center stage in your work, relationships, and personal pursuits? Remember, true joy comes not from our own accomplishments, but from seeing Christ exalted in and through our lives. Like pastor John Piper says, God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.
