Day 4 - Sunday Sermon Recap Devotional
Welcome to Day number 4 on our devotional on last Sunday’s Sermon:
Romans Chapter 12 verses 17 through 21: Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Temptation often comes disguised as justice. When we're wronged, the enemy whispers that revenge is our right. But Paul calls us to a higher standard – leaving room for God's wrath rather than taking matters into our own hands. This requires tremendous faith and self-control.
Reflect on a situation where you've been hurt or treated unfairly. How challenging is it to "overcome evil with good"? Remember, responding with love doesn't mean the offense wasn't real or painful. Instead, it's a powerful testimony to the transforming work of Christ in our lives. Ask God for the strength to respond to evil with good today.
