Day 5 - Sunday Sermon Recap
Welcome to Day number 5 on our devotional on last Sunday’s Sermon:
Psalm chapter 16 verses 5 through 11: The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
In a world full of fleeting pleasures, our hearts often wander seeking satisfaction. Yet David boldly declares, "I have no good apart from you." This psalm reminds us that true, lasting joy is found in God's presence. When tempted by lust or any other temporary pleasure, we can combat those desires by reminding ourselves of the "eternal pleasures" at God's right hand.
Today, examine your heart. What competing desires are vying for your affection? Spend time in God's presence, asking Him to realign your desires with His. Let David's words become your prayer: "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy.”
